UNA-USA Supports Haiti Quake Victims
As concerned citizens and UNA-USA members, we all want to help
the victims of the earthquake in Haiti. We can give immediate help through UNICEF's
Emergency Fund for Haiti and through the UN's
World Food Program. Please join me in donating to help to the victims.

Welcome Message from
Mel Boynton
UNA Southern California Division
President
Welcome to your SoCal UNA-USA Website! It’s a pleasure to help
lead this dynamic organization. If you’re not already a member,
please join today. Check out your local
chapter websites and help us educate, advocate, and grow.
The purpose of the SoCal UNA-USA is to complement the activities of our ten
local chapters; sponsor division-wide advocacy and fundraising events in accordance
with our division action plan; and assist
other UNA-USA chapters around the country through our national
UNA-USA office.
The year 2010 is a good year to be active in the UNA-USA! The Obama
Administration has embraced a constructive relationship with the United Nations
and many international issues are front and center. Many UN treaties
are awaiting ratification, two wars will require UN involvement to resolve,
climate change is a burning issue, human rights are in jeopardy, and the Millennium
Development Goals are behind schedule. Your active involvement
will make a difference.
I look forward to meeting you at one of our forthcoming chapter or division
events. The UNA-USA is helping the UN help the world!
Working for Human Rights and Peace, Mel Boynton

Kudos to Barry Simon for organizing and delivering a quality fundraising
event...and in the space of just a few weeks! And many thanks to
his team of helpers.
The United Nations Association of San Diego (UNASD) announces that
the organization’s President, Dr. Mary McKenzie,
has been appointed by Mayor Jerry Sanders to the International Affairs
Board. In addition to her expertise in international affairs, Dr.
Mary McKenzie was selected because she represents UNASD, an organization
